This is your space to put your goals for the use of ICT in teaching and learning. You can give everyone updates on how you are going throughout the year. At the end of the year, you can upload a short presentation showing the results of your work to this page. Have fun with this space!

2. To continue to use Podcasts in reading so the children become more objective about their reading.

3. To use ICT authentically in my classroom.

Hi Lucy, This is a good list of goals. I know you have been working on incorporating PowerPoint. It would be great if you could put an update on your progress here. See you on the 21st of May!

1. To enhance teaching and learning using ICT in reading by making PowerPoint books. This is part of my action research for 2008
This is the goal I have been working on this term. This is how I have worked towards achieving this goal.

Process:

1. Choose topic (or a specific classroom routine for the child with autism)
2. Take photos.
3. Import photos.
4. Insert photos.
5. Use the format and design tools on the FORMAT drop down box.

I have found this exercise very helpful for the autistic child and the rest of the class. My expectations are a lot clearer and I have more time to teach.

3. To use ICT authentically in my classroom.
This is the goal I have been working on this term. This is how I have worked towards achieving this goal.

We are doing Snow White and the Seven Dwarves for our school production. We have been working on characterisation in writing time - how they look, feel, sound etc. These ideas have then been transferred in a 4 line, 2 verse poem with an AABB or ABAB pattern. The children used Tuxpaint to visualise their character and to express their personality. I found using Tuxpiant gave the children the opportunity to be more creative with their characters and inspired them to use a wider, richer range of vocabulary when writing the poems.

I have bee using PowerPoint in our Human Body inquiry. The children chose the part of the body they thought was really important and needed looking after to ensure we remain healthy. To find the answers to the leading and subsidiary questions we used action buttons to lead you to the place in the PowerPoint. The action buttons were placed over the top of a picture of the child. The action button was placed on the part of the body they were researching. We also used hyperlinks to link to useful websites that enabled the children to answer their questions.

The children thoroughly enjoyed presenting their P.P’s because they felt organised and the information was clear and precise.
